I am so excited to finally be able to show you a tour of our apartment.
This is the first place we have lived together where the whole place is completely decorated!
It feels amazing, and I get excited to be home all day and enjoy it!
We all know I have a serious love for interior design. My mother was an interior designer all my growing up years, and I remember watching her do her magic for clients, and our homes, and I was always in awe at how easy it came to her! She has a true passion for it, and I believe I inherited that passion.
For this apartment, I wanted to keep all the walls white (1. because I love the light and airy feel it gives & 2. we didn't want to have to repaint them when we move out) and bring in color with the furniture and accents. Everything you see is either something we bought with wedding money and moved with us from Utah, gifted to us, or thrifted (for cheap) and made our own.
I am going to split the tour up in a few different posts, so you aren't bombarded with pictures.
I love seeing how others decorate their homes. I feel like it shows who they are as a person, and their personality! So I hope you don't get too bored with seeing our place...
So here is our Living Room. I never go into decorating a room with a specific color palette. I like to just add my favorite pieces, and build around it with the things I fall in love with at local thrift stores. It is a very eclectic way of decorating, and that is very me.
{Image Above: Couch: DownEast Home-Utah. Floor lamp: Pier1. Pillows: Orange is from Pier1 and rest: Liberty of London for Target. Everything on the wall is thrifted, except the green bird print: wedding gift, and the circle mirror: HomeGoods. The yellow girl (on wall) is a gift from my late Nana that she hand painted. She painted all her granddaughters a version of it, and gave them to us one Christmas. She got very sick the next year, and passed away not long after. It is the one thing I would save if our house was burning, it means that much to me!}
{Image Above: Coffee Table: My late Grandma's. Rug: Ikea. Pink pot: Ikea.}
{Image Above: Blue double patterned chairs: wedding presents from mom and brother, purchased from The Gatehouse in Orem, Utah. They are my most prized possessions, and something I will take with me to every home we live in. Yellow side table: Thrift store - San Clemente, Ca. Flower lamp: Goodwill. Candles: HomeGoods. Candlesticks: Thrift store - San Clemente, Ca. Blue Frame: HomeGoods (photo is of my late Nana, me and my cousin Kristi). Books (Old Testament & New Testament): D.I. - Orem, Ut. Angel: Gift for granddaughters to remind us of Nana (can you tell how much she meant to all of us??)}
{Image Above: Blue dresser: Thrift store - Lake Forest, Ca., which I painted blue and paired with Anthropologie knobs. Cast Iron Elephant (right corner): Estate type sale.}

I think it is very important to decorate the places you live, even if it is just an apartment that you might not live in for a long time. It helps make your place really yours, and makes you happy! Well, that is the case for me.
It doesn't take a lot of money to make your house amazing and truly livable, and the money you do spend is well worth the results!!
**I have been asked to help others decorate their homes, so I am now officially announcing that I am available for interior styling. Love your apartment and style. Congrats on starting a decorating service. I think your sentence is supposed to say "I am noW officially announcing I am available for interior styling" instead of "I am noT". ;)

Lovely greetings...
I'm so glad I found your blog! It's so fun. Love your house! I hope you enjoy Southern California...I live in Northern California with my family, but am currently in Seattle for school. I hope one day to be running my interior design business out of orange county! Your living room is perfection. I love all the eclectic items. The pillows are adorable, too!
all of your styling is so gorgeous and really seems like you put a lot of time and thought into each and every piece. i'm in love with the orange door <3
Cute place! I love the knobs on your entertainment center.
Wow.
Seriously. This is so great! I've always loved decorating and I've been lucky enough to inherit LOTS of furniture from old, Southern relatives. Whenever I moved to California, I had to leave everything behind. It was really sad for me, because I had such a sentimental connection to every piece in my home. I definitely learned a lot of lessons that first year about materialism and that I could, indeed, live without those things. Being a single girl, I literally had no budget to make my house pretty. While it's good to know that I can live without extravagance, I will not and cannot deny the importance of nesting and having a happy space to come home to! It's something that I'm really looking forward to and planning for in my next apartment, wherever that may be.
Congratulations on picking up some freelance work! You have some serious skills, Mrs S.
